# Ipad layout update issue

Hi OSC folks
I’m trying to use OSC PILOT to control ableton live cues from my ipad.
so I downloaded rtp midi and osc pilot on my ipad and laptop.
I easily managed to get everything to work together and send midi messages to ableton using the default oscPilot layout.
My issue is I can’t modify the ipad app layout.
I don’t own a license, so I can’t save a layout on my laptop and load it on the app, but in my understanding I should be able to update the layout with the remote edit server update function ?
I connect everyone on the same wifi dedicated router.
laptop (win10) ip : 192.168.0.102
ipad ip : 192.168.0.100
ipad remote edit host server is configured as :192.168.0.102
both apps port # are 1223. (I tried other port numbers without success)
enable server is checked on the desktop app.
So if i modify the default layout on the desktop and hit update on the ipad nothing happens…
I deactivated the firewall to make sure it’s not blocking anything.
am missing something ?

You need a license to transfer to your iPad. The edit server function is effectively a Save function and without a license, you’re not allowed to use that feature.

Yes, you need a license to be able to save. The iPad version is solely for people who have a paid license, it’s really useful without one.

Hi there, I have a similar issue. I’ve bought a license but every time I export to my iPad, the UI is extremely small or nowhere near the same size as it is on my Mac before exporting it into my iPad. It’s an issue I’ve been trying to fix for over a year now.

Hey, can you share an example .plt file that shows this issue?
